Windows XP and Office 2003 Keyboard Shortcuts

The first section here discusses the keyboard shortcuts that Datasheet view and Form view share for navigation. The following sections cover the shortcuts that work differently in Datasheet view and in Form view.

Shortcuts for Both Datasheet View and Form View

Select the Record Number box on the status bar

[F5]

Type the record number in the Record Number box and press [Enter] to access that record.

Select the next field

[Tab] , [ ’ ]

Select the previous field

[Shift] - [Tab] , [ ]

Select the next field

[ “ ]

Select the previous field

[ ‘ ]

Select the first field in the active record

[Home]

Select the last field in the active record

[End]

Select the current field in the last record

[Ctrl] - [ “ ]

Select the current field in the first record

[Ctrl] - [ ‘ ]

Select the last field in the last record

[Ctrl] - [End]

Select the first field in the first record

[Ctrl] - [Home]

Shortcuts for Navigating in Datasheet View

Apart from the shortcuts common to Datasheet view and Form view discussed in the previous section, you can use the following keyboard shortcuts to navigate in Datasheet view.

Display the next screen of data downward

[PageDown]

Display the next screen of data upward

[PageUp]

Display the next screen of data to the right

[Ctrl] - [PageDown]

Display the next screen of data to the left

[Ctrl] - [PageUp]

Shortcuts for Navigating in Form View

Apart from the shortcuts common to Datasheet view and Form view discussed earlier, you can use the following shortcuts for navigating in forms that contain more than one page.

Display the next page

[PageDown]

Pressing [PageDown] at the end of the record displays the same page of the next record.

Display the previous page

[PageUp]

Pressing [PageUp] at the end of the record displays the same page of the previous record.

Shortcuts for Navigating Between the Main Form and a Subform

Move from the preceding field in the main form to the subform

[Tab]

Move from the following field in the main form to the subform

[Shift] - [Tab]

Move from the subform to the next field in the main form

[Ctrl] - [Tab]

If the main form contains no fields after the subform, pressing [Ctrl] - [Tab] selects the first field in the next record.

Move from the subform to the previous field in the main form

[Ctrl] - [Shift] - [Tab]

If the main form contains no fields before the subform, pressing [Ctrl] - [Shift] - [Tab] selects the last field in the previous record.

Shortcuts for Working with Subdatasheets

Expand the subdatasheet

[Ctrl] - [Shift] - [ “ ]

Collapse the subdatasheet

[Ctrl] - [Shift] - [ ‘ ]

Move from the last field of the previous record to the subdatasheet

[Tab]

You can also press [Tab] to move from the last field of the subdatasheet to the next field in the datasheet.

Move from the first field of the following record to the subdatasheet

[Shift] - [Tab]

Move from the subdatasheet to the first field of the next record

[Ctrl] - [Tab]

Move from the subdatasheet to the last field of the previous record

[Ctrl] - [Shift] - [Tab]

Note

If you don t want to access the subdatasheet, press [ “ ] to move past it downward or [ ‘ ] to move past it upward.
