Setting Up Impress to Make Creating and Opening Presentations Easier
Completing these procedures will make life simpler when you start using Impress. Turning Off Automatic AutoPilot
AutoPilot is a powerful "wizard" tool that lets you define many of the features of a new presentation. However, it appears with somewhat annoying and surprising frequency (under File > New, primarily). You can always get to AutoPilot by choosing File > AutoPilot, so you'll probably find it more convenient to keep it from coming up when you choose File > New.
Adding Places to Look for Impress Files
AutoPilot has a window that lists the templates and presentations you can base your new presentation on. However, it's pretty exclusiveit only looks in a few locations.
Note If you're in a multi- user system, the template folders are typically on the server, not among your own local files.
If you're on a multi-user system and have created your own templates in a different folder, for instance, you won't be able to see them in AutoPilot. Follow these steps to add the locations where you store Impress templates, presentation backgrounds, and presentations.
The folders you added will show up in AutoPilot with the name Templates. |
