Digital Performer 4 Ignite!

[ LiB ]

There are several dozen audio plug-ins that come with Digital Performer that allow you to apply special effects to your audio selections. Almost all of them operate in a similar fashion. You open the Plug-in window, make the desired changes, preview, and then accept those changes.

Delay

If you've ever been to one of those mega-large theaters to watch a movie, there is no doubt that you've experienced delay. Delay refers to the amount of time between one speaker playing a particular sound and another speaker playing a corresponding sound. Delay is perfect for creating effects like surround sound, echoes, or even chorus.

NOTE

Double-clicking on any dial will return it to its default setting.

eVerb

eVerb is an effect that allows you to control the level of reverberation. Reverberation refers to the effect obtained when sound waves bounce off the walls of a room. Sound in a small room with glass walls will sound much different from sound in an auditorium with wood walls. The eVerb plug-in in Digital Performer allows you to mimic almost any kind of room. You can start by selecting a type of room for initial reflections and then modify it to suit your needs.

Reverse

Are you old enough to remember LPs? Do you remember how people claimed some LPs played disturbed messages if played backwards ? Here's your chance to find out. Just record any audio track and you can reverse it using Digital Performer's Reverse plug-in.

Flanger

Flanger is a type of delay effect that creates a sound that seems like you're talking into a fan. It does this by creating a slightly distorted sound. Typically, Flanger effects are used on guitar tracks.

Chorus

The Chorus effect creates the illusion of several voices coming from your selection. You can adjust the delay, depth, wet and dry pan, as well as the mix.

Trim

The Trim plug-in allows you to add up to 40db in gain to your audio selections and allows you to adjust the pan. In addition, you can control the maximum and minimum values displayed in your level meters .
