Overview

Apath is essentially a vector-based selection outline in Photoshop. Because paths are vector based (an outline rather than a selection of pixels), creating paths rather than saved selections in an image file will have less of a tendency to increase the file size . This can be beneficial if the file is a large scan, has dozens of layers , or is simply large because it's complex. You can use a path as a selection at any time, fill the path or color the path outline, or even use a special type of path to clip image content when you plan to reuse a file.
