I chose to customize my installation. What are the differences between the GNOME and KDE environments, selectable at the Package Group Selection screen?

In Fedora Core 4, GNOME is simpler, easier to use, and more closely tied to the included Red Hat system administration tools. Using KDE in Fedora Core 4 will require more configuration before you are able to use it comfortably, but it is also more powerful and programmable and offers a wider range of configuration options. If in doubt, you can install both at once; you can then switch between them easily. Note that the content of this book is written with the GNOME desktop in mind.
