This chapter provided a comprehensive coverage of the technologies for knowledge management. First, the knowledge management infrastructure was discussed. Then, we analyzed the knowledge architecture highlighting the subjective and objective aspects of KM. From this we discussed knowledge management systems. We also discussed many technologies available to organizations to use to make up their own KMS. Finally, we discussed how to become a knowledge-based business. A sincere commitment to knowledge management, appropriate structures and cultures, technology that supports the knowledge activities, and a need for the organization to foster learning are essential to a knowledge-based business. By adopting these techniques and strategies, organizations will be able to truly embrace knowledge discovery solutions and thereby maximize their implicit knowledge assets and hence become intelligent enterprises.
