You can insert movies or sounds into a presentation by inserting them from the Clip Art task pane or a file. Movies can be either animated pictures, also known as animated GIFs, such as cartoons, or they can be digital videos prepared with digitized video equipment. Movies and sounds are inserted as PowerPoint objects. When you insert a sound, a small icon appears representing the sound file. When you insert a movie or sound, PowerPoint asks you how you want it to start in a slide show. You can choose to have the movie or sound play automatically or when clicked.

Insert a Clip Organizer Movie or Sound

Click the Insert menu, and then point to Movies And Sounds.

Click Movie From Clip Organizer or Sound From Clip Organizer.

Click the media clip you want to insert.

When a message is displayed, do one of the following:

To play the media clip automatically when you go to the slide, click Automatically.

To play the media clip only when you click it, click When Clicked.

When you're done, click the Close button on the task pane.

You can insert movies and sounds located on your computer . Click the Insert menu, point to Movies And Sounds, click an insert command, locate and select the movie or sound, and then click OK.

Insert a Movie or Sound on a New Slide

Click the New Slide button on the Standard toolbar.

Click the Title, Media Clip and Text or the Title, Text and Media Clip AutoLayout in the Slide Layout task pane.

Double-click the Media Clip placeholder.

Click the media clip you want to insert, and then click OK.

When the message is displayed, click Automatically or When Clicked.

When you're done, click the Close button on the task pane.
