| Chart boxes are related to each other. For example, if you want to add a Subordinate chart box, first select the chart box to which you want to attach it. The buttons on the toolbar show the relationship between the different chart boxes you can add. When you add a Subordinate, it is automatically placed below the selected chart box. You can, however, display the chart box levels in a different layout, and you can customize the organization chart's appearance using the formatting options. Add a Chart Box -
 | If necessary, click the org chart you want to modify. | -
 | Click the chart box to which you want to attach the new chart box. | -
 Click the Insert Shape list arrow on the Organization Chart toolbar, and then click one or more of the following: Coworker “to place the shape next to the selected shape and connect it to the same manager shape. Subordinate “to place the new shape below the selected shape and to connect it to the selected shape. Assistant “to place the new shape below the selected shape with an elbow connector. -
 | Enter the information in the box you just added. | -
 | Click outside the box. |  Did You Know? You can delete a chart box . If you add a chart box in the wrong place, you can delete it by first selecting the chart box and then pressing the Delete key. | Change the Layout -

| | Select the top chart box of the branch to which you want to apply a new layout. The chart box should have subordinates or assistants. | -

| | Make sure the chart box you want to move is not selected. | -
| | Position the mouse over the chart box you want to move. The pointer changes to a four-headed arrow. | -
| | Drag the chart box over an existing chart box. | -
