Linked text boxes can be used to create columns of text that flow side-by-side along the bottom or top of the page in conjunction with either a one-column or two-column layout of the main body text. Using this feature, you can extend a sidebar across a two-page spread. You can link several text boxes together in different parts of a document.

Create a Text Box from Existing Text

Select the text in which you want to make into a text box.

Click the Insert menu ' and then click Text Box.

Create an Empty Text Box

Position the insertion point where you want the text box to appear.

Click the Insert menu ' and then click Text Box.

Click the Text Box button on the Drawing toolbar.

Click and drag inside the drawing canvas where you want the text box to appear, and then enter the text you want.

Resize the Drawing Canvas text box so that it surrounds the text box.
