You can customize the way track changes marks up a document. When you make insertion, deletion, and formatting changes, you can change the markup text to display the change with a specific color or formatting style, such as bold, italic, underline, double underline, and strikethrough . If you are using balloons in Print and Web Layout views, you can specify a preferred size and location in your document. If you prefer not to use balloons, you can turn the option off.

Modify Track Changes Options

Click the Tools menu ' and then click Options.

Click the Track Changes tab.

Specify the markup options you want when you make changes.

  • Insertions . Marks inserted text.

  • Deletions . Marks deleted text.

  • Formatting . Marks formatting changes.

  • Changed Lines . Sets the location of vertical line that marks changed paragraphs.

  • Comments Color . Sets the color applied to all comments.

Specify the balloons options you want.

  • Use Balloons (Print And Web Layout) . Sets display option for balloons.

  • Preferred Width . Sets balloon width.

  • Margin . Sets margin location for balloons.

Click OK.
