XML and SQL Server 2000

Virtual Directories are created graphically through theVirtual Directory Management Utility or programmatically through theVirtual Directory Management Object Model. These directories are the holding pens for XML template files and XDR schema files. In the case of a dbobject, specifying a virtual directory name provides direct access to a database object such as a table or view.

The IIS Virtual Directory Management for SQL Server Utility runs on any edition of Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 or Microsoft Windows 2000. Minor changes may have to be made depending on what version you are running.

SQL Server 2000 comes with a graphical user interface utility that allows setting up of all aspects of virtual directories and virtual names .

SQL Server 2000 provides a programmatic interface that allows access to and creation of all components associated with virtual directories and virtual names.
