If you have access to an Office or Windows SharePoint Server 3.0 site, (workspace collaboration using a Web server), you can synchronize file content between Groove and SharePoint libraries. Groove uses the SharePoint Files Tool as a centralized location to work on SharePoint files and with people outside your workspace. The SharePoint Files Tool synchronizes data with workspace members in the same way as the standard File Tool. The one who sets up the SharePoint connection is the synchronizer, and is typically the workspace Owner. The synchronizer has two options: manual or automatic based on a time interval. Simply double-click a SharePoint file to edit it in its native program. As the synchronizer, you can also check out/in files to avoid conflicts with other SharePoint users while you edit a file. Set Up a SharePoint Connection In Launchbar, double-click the workspace you want to open, and then click the SharePoint Files tab. Click Setup. Enter the SharePoint Server Web address, and then press Enter. See your Network Administrator for specifics. Click the library in which you want to connect. Click Select. All the files in the SharePoint library are synchronized with the Groove workspace. Did You Know? You can get more information about SharePoint. To download a complete chapter about Office SharePoint, go to www.perspection.com. You can set file permissions for SharePoint files. In the workspace, right-click the SharePoint Files tab, click Properties, click the Permissions tab, select a role, select the permissions you want, and then click OK. | Check Out and In Files to Edit In Launchbar, double-click the workspace you want to open, and then click the SharePoint Files tab. Select the file you want to check out. Click the Check In/Out button on the toolbar, and then click Check Out from SharePoint. To edit a file, double-click the file to open it in its native program, make changes, save and close it. In Groove, click Yes to save changes. Click the Check In/Out button on the toolbar, and then click Check In from SharePoint. Describe your changes, and then click OK. Synchronize Files In Launchbar, double-click the workspace you want to open, and then click the SharePoint Files tab. To set synchronization options, click the Calendar icon, click the Manually or Automatically option, and then if necessary, specify an interval, and then click OK. To manually synchronize files, click Synchronize Now. The Preview Synchronization dialog box opens. Click Synchronize Now. Resolve any conflicts that arise. If necessary, click Resolve, select another file version, and then click OK. |
