C# Programmer[ap]s Cookbook

To run the sample code accompanying this book, you will need the following software:

The minimum hardware specification for development is a 450-MHz Pentium II-class processor, with a minimum of 128 MB of RAM if you're running Microsoft Windows 2000 and 256 MB of RAM if you're running Windows XP, Windows 2000 Server, or Windows Server 2003. You'll need about 5 GB of free hard-disk space to install Visual Studio .NET 2003. These values are minimums, and your development life will be much easier on a system with ample RAM and free disk space.

Note

Although Microsoft's implementation of the .NET Framework for Windows is the focus of the C# Programmer's Cookbook , an important goal was to provide a useful resource to all C# programmers regardless of the platform on which they are developing or the tools to which they have access. Apart from specific topics that are not supported on all .NET platforms (such as Windows Forms, ADO.NET, and ASP.NET) many of the samples in this book are valid across all .NET implementations .
