Can anyone set up a Stratum-2 timeserver? What is stopping you from setting up a Stratum-2 server and making it publicly available?

When selecting a time source, it is important to use a time source that provides the correct time [in relation to International Atomic Time (TIA)]?

Here is an extract from the /etc/rc.config.d/netdaemons file:

export NTPDATE_SERVER=" server1.domain.com server2.domain.com server3.domain.com" export XNTPD=1 export XNTPD_ARGS=

From the above information, with which of these servers will we synchronize our clock? What is the default behavior of the ntpdate command when performing a change to our system clock? Could this be a problem for some applications? Is there anything we can do to change this behavior?

Look at the following output from the ntpq command:

Which server is acting as our clock source? Which, if any, of these servers is broadcasting time packets on its networks? What is the stratum level of the available servers, and why has our particular time source been selected over other available sources.

The NTP software supports the notion of fudging. What is fudging , and when is it commonly used?
