The Digital Photography Book

Fast Company: photoshop design tips

As I'm sure you've noticed by now, this book is filled with Photoshop topic-specific tips, such as layers tips or production tips, but there's a whole subset of tips that aren't as much about pressing a keyboard shortcut or a hidden command as they are about what we've learned while working in our studio on real-world projects.

Unfortunately, the studio we work in is a hair studio, so many of our tips are like, "Use Paul Mitchell products" or "Lather, rinse, and repeat," so I'm not sure how helpful they'll be, but I guarantee you thisyou'll have shiny, more manageable hair in just two weeks.

Okay, they're actually Photoshop tips, but they answer questions that are much broader, such as "How far is the drop shadow supposed to be from an object?", "How do I scan a three-dimensional object?", or "How much conditioner should I use for a dry, oily scalp?" Did you catch that "dry oily" oxymoron? You didn't? I'm not sure you're ready for these tips. Apply a cream rinse, then we'll talk.
