Show Me Microsoft Office Project 2003

The Options dialog is what amounts to the control panel for Microsoft Project. From this dialog, nearly everything that Project does is controlled or adjusted. It is where most program defaults are set, as well as where you can control how Project does its work.

The options within this dialog can be broken down into two types: application options and project options. Application options are general to the entire application, regardless of which project file is open. Project options are specific to the project file that's currently open . Tabs within this dialog that have Project options usually also have a button called Set As Default. Clicking this button makes the current state of the project options on that tab the default for new projects.

This chapter will walk you through a guided tour of the Options dialog. It is important to understand these options, at least in a limited way. If you don't understand them, many of the things that Project does later on will be confusing and frustrating.
