Touring Excel's Workbook Window

Inside the Excel program window is a workbook window that displays the current worksheet in front. In this window, you enter the labels, values, and formulas that make up each worksheet. Figure 2.5 illustrates the various components of the workbook window. Table 2.1 lists and describes each component.

Component Name

Purpose

Tabs

Provide a way to switch from one worksheet to another. Click the tab for the desired worksheet.

Tab scrolling buttons

Enable you to scroll through the worksheets in a workbook.

Scrollbars

Enable you to bring into view a section of the current worksheet that is not displayed.

Column headings

Identify the columns by letter.

Row headings

Identify the rows by number.

Selector

Outlines the currently selected cell .

Split bars

Split the worksheet window into two panes so you can view two different portions of the same worksheet.
