Whatever you do to your worksheet, you can undo, as long as you don't close the worksheet or exit Excel. To undo your most recent action, simply click the Undo button or press Ctrl+Z . You can click Undo or press Ctrl+Z several times to back through a series of changes. You can even undo the Undo command by clicking the Redo button or pressing Ctrl+Y .

Next to the Undo button is a downward-pointing arrow that opens the Undo menu. This menu contains a list of all the actions you performed, starting with the most recent. Contrary to what you might think, the Redo menu does not enable you to pick any action in the list to undo. When you pick an action down the list, that action and all actions that were performed after it are undone. In other words, you can undo the most recent action or the five most recent actions, but you cannot undo only the seventh action. To undo several actions, open this menu and click the last action you want to undo. Excel undoes the selected action and all actions performed after that. (Redo has its own menu, as well.)
