Java & BAPI Technology for SAP

The following components of the SAP Assistant package are also available as stand-alone tools.

• DCOM Connector logon component. This component provides a logon screen and parameters for obtaining a connection from the end user. It allows the user to define the destination system.

• Repository services. This tool allows you to access business objects and RFC function modules in the R/3 system to COM-complaint programs and applications. It also lets you save a copy of the metadata in a local database. Using a local database provides a local caching mechanism to speed up access to the metadata.

• BAPI Gateway. The BAPI gateway allows you to dynamically call BAPIs and RFCs through the DCOM Connector.

• Repository Browser. The repository browser is also called the SAP Browser Control. An ActiveX control can be hosted by any ActiveX container, and consists of a window with two panes for browsing SAP BAPI and RFC metadata information. The browser supports online calling of RFC functions from within the control.
