Description & Usage

The LARGE_INTEGER structure stores a 64-bit signed integer. Unsigned integers range in value from -2⁶³ to 2⁶³ - 1. This structure is defined primarily for languages (such as Visual Basic but including many others) which have no intrinsic support for 64-bit signed integers. The structure splits the value into two 32-bit halves: a high-order half and a low-order half. If the programming language you use does support 64-bit signed integers, you can replace the two data members of this structure with a single value (or use that data type instead of the structure altogether).

Visual Basic-Specific Issues

There is a way to use a variable of the Currency data type to represent a 64-bit integer. For more information, read the article "Faking 64-bit Integers."

LowPart

The 32-bit low-order half of the full 64-bit signed integer.

HighPart

The 32-bit high-order half of the full 64-bit signed integer.
