Observing the User Experience: A Practitioners Guide to User Research
You should now have a good idea of what ATL Server is designed to do and what problems its aimed at solving. You should also have a good grasp of the wide range of features that ATL Server provides. The basic syntax of an SRF file and a request handler (attributed and nonattributed) should be familiar to you, as well as the ideas incorporated into this architecture. You should also now be familiar with the new features of Visual Studio .NET that help make creating Web applications much simpler (e.g., compiler attributes and the debugger).
Throughout the rest of this book, we expand on the ideas presented in this chapter and we introduce some new ones. We designed this book in such a way that you can read through it (or most of it) to gain a useful understanding of the area(s) of ATL Server in which youre most interested. This book is intended to be a useful reference on each major area of functionality the library provides, so that you can refer to it while you work with the library.
In the next chapter youll move on to learn more about SRF files, what they contain, and why they provide an excellent model for Web application design.
