Appendix A. Installing the JAX Pack

To work with the Java APIs for XML, you will need to download and install the necessary packages from Sun's Web site. We assume that you already have JDK 1.3.1 or above installed in your machine, as the Java APIs for XML are not compatible with versions of Java earlier than 1.3.1.

NOTE

In case you do not have the Java Development Kit already installed in your machine, you can download and install a Java Development Kit (JDK) release (version 1.3.1 or later) from http://java.sun.com/j2se/.

The Java APIs for XML are available in two downloadable packages:

  • Java XML Pack

  • Java Web Services Developer Pack (JWSDP)
