InDesign CS4 for Macintosh and Windows: Visual QuickStart Guide

Adobe Bridge not only lets you organize and view artwork, it also lets you drag graphics directly onto InDesign pages.

To place artwork from Bridge:

1.

Position the Bridge and InDesign windows so that both are visible.

2.

Drag the file from Bridge onto an empty area of the InDesign page. This places the file into a new graphic frame, the same size as the image . The straight lines in the cursor indicate that a new frame will be created .

Drag an image from Adobe Bridge to place it onto an InDesign page.

The straight lines in the cursor indicate that the image dragged from Bridge will appear in a new frame.

or

Drag the file from Bridge onto a preexisting frame on the InDesign page. This places the file into the frame . The curved lines in the cursor indicate that the image will be placed into the frame .

Drag an image from Adobe Bridge to place it onto an InDesign page.

The curved lines in the cursor indicate that the image dragged from Bridge will appear in an existing frame.

3.

Release the mouse button to place the image.

Tip

When Bridge is in the Compact Mode, you can choose Compact Window Always on Top to keep the Bridge window visible over the InDesign document window.
