Libraries can be opened and the elements in the libraries dragged onto any InDesign documents. To add library items to a document: 1. | Select the item in the library. Tip Shift-click to select multiple contiguous entries in the Library palette. Tip Cmd/Ctrl-click to select multiple non-contiguous entries in the Library palette. | 2. | Drag the items from the library onto the page .
Items can be dragged from a library onto a document. or Choose Place Item(s) from the Library palette menu. Tip The Place Item(s) command adds the library item in the same position it was in when first defined. | You may want to modify an item in a library with a new object, text, or image. The Update Library Item command makes this easy to do. To update an item in a library: 1. | Select the item on the page that you want to use as the replacement in the library. | 2. | Select the item in the library that needs to be updated. | 3. | Choose Update Library Item from the Library palette menu. The library thumbnail updates to display the new item. | Libraries in the Bridge Libraries appear in the Adobe Bridge (see page 45) as icons, not previewed documents. Library icons can be opened through the Bridge as you would any InDesign file. Although you can add descriptions to the items in a library (see the facing page), the library items in the Adobe Bridge cannot have keywords or other XMP metadata applied to them. |
