The Help and Support Center will also walk you through a variety of tasks. When you boot up a new installation of XP or turn your new XP system on for the first time, you're offered a tour of available features. This also occurs after installing SP2. However, you can always come back and take this tour at any time after installation.

To take the guided tour after installation, follow these steps:

1.

Open the Help and Support Center and click the first Help Topic: "What's New In Windows XP." (If you already have the Help and Support Center open, you can click the Home button on the toolbar to return to the home page.)

From the ensuing list of topics, click the "Taking a tour or tutorial" hyperlink. Now follow the "…XP tour" link on the right side to start the tour.

You've no doubt noticed by now that quite a few of the technologies and tips shared in this book have you stepping through a wizard at some point. To be sure, most of the wizards are fairly straightforwardthey're expressly designed to remove a lot of the guesswork from configuring a computerbut did you know that the Help and Support Center contains an overview of most of the common wizards used by XP?

Many people aren't aware of this and therefore don't take advantage of one of the Help and Support Center's more powerful features.

For example, if you were looking for a quick sketch on how to add a digital camera, you don't have to search the Help and Support Center for cameras. Instead, you could look for the right wizard by performing the following steps:

In the Help and Support Center, click the Index button.

2.

In the "Type in the keyword to find" box, enter the word "Wizards." The resulting search will return a series of subtopics under the Wizard category, as shown in Figure 3.

You'll find step-by-step documentation here of more than two dozen Windows XP wizards. This can be a valuable resource when you're stepping through a wizard for the first time.
