Project 2003 Personal Trainer

Lesson 7.2. Specifying Pay Rates for Different Dates

Figure 7-2. The Costs tab of the Resource Information dialog box.

Resources typically have the same pay rate for the duration of the project. However, you can apply different pay rates at different times during the project.

  1. Select the Jon High resource.

This resource is due to get a significant raise (30%) during the project. Let's make Project aware of the date of the new pay rate.

  2. Click the Resource Information button on the Standard toolbar.

The Resource Information dialog box appears.

  3. Click the Costs tab.

The resource's default pay rate appears in the default Table A. Each tab represents a different pay rate; each resource can have up to five different pay rates.

First, enter the date the pay rate will be effective.

  4. Click the second cell in the Effective Date field and type 3/1/06.

Now, enter the pay rate that will apply beginning on this date.

Instead of entering a value, you can enter a percentage in the Standard Rate field, and Project will calculate a new rate value based on the previous value.

  5. Click the second cell in the Standard Rate field and type 30%. Press Enter.

The previous rate of $28 per hour plus 30% is $36.40 per hour. Compare your dialog box to Figure 7-2.

  6. Click OK.

The dialog box closes. When March 1 comes around, Jon High will be paid $36.40 per hour for his work.
