Content Networking Fundamentals

In this last Chapter, you combined numerous technologies that you learned about throughout this book, such as content switching, application layer protocols, DNS, GSLB, QoS, and streaming media, to explore the following content distribution and routing technologies:

  • Content Distribution Content distribution is divided into acquisition and pre-positioning. The root-CE first acquires the content using a manifest, then prepositions the content to downstream CEs.

  • Content Routing You learned how to route client requests using WCCP, Simplified Hybrid Routing, and Dynamic Proxy Autoconfiguration (PAC).

  • Enhanced Streaming Media You learned how you can enable enhanced streaming services, such as the Cisco Streaming Engine and RealSubscriber, with a CDM-administered ACNS solution.
