Case Study: The Microsoft Wireless Network

This chapter describes how Microsoft implemented its secure wireless network using 802.11b and Extensible Authentication Protocol-Transport Layer Security (EAP-TLS) authentication. As an early adopter of wireless technology, Microsoft faced several challenges in deploying a secure and reliable global wireless infrastructure. Microsoft now has more than 30,000 wireless clients, and the wireless network is a key piece of its corporate-connected infrastructure.
