Paint Shop Pro 8 Power!

Making Your Own Patterns
Patterns are used as material you can paint with, as a material for Balls and Bubbles, as fill for vector objects, and as a material you can use with the Sculpture effect.
Just as you can make your own textures, you can make your own patterns. Any 16-million color image can be used as a pattern, but for best results, the image should be a seamless tile.
To make a basic tile available for use in Paint Shop Pro, try this:
-
Create a seamless pattern with Paint Shop Pro's Seamless Tiling effect or another effect that can produce a seamless tile. (See Chapter 7 for discussion of Paint Shop Pro's effects.)
-
Save the pattern file to one of your Patterns folders (as specified in your file preferences). Any image in one of the Patterns folders will be recognized as a pattern.
Figure 11.4 shows an example of painting with a pattern made using the Kaleidoscope effect, and Figure 11.5 shows an example of the Sculpture effect with a seamless pattern made with Seamless Tiling.
