Every Pages templateactually every Pages documentcontains an array of formatting attributes that instruct Pages how to display the various document components . When designing a template, you can choose to leave these attributes in their standard, or default, state, or you can modify any or all of them:

Page size and orientation . The paper size and whether the document is vertical (portrait) or horizontal (landscape).

Page margins . The margins on the sides, top, and bottom of the page and the header and footer areas.

Page numbering . Whether or not the document contains footnotes or page numbers , and their placement and formatting.

Background images . Graphics, watermarks, or other master objects that appear on every page.

Text styles . A collection of character and paragraph styles, including list and table-of-contents styles.

Fill and stroke styles for drawn objects . The style for objects you create from the Shapes menu.

Text boxes . The fill, border, and text style for text boxes.

Tables . The fill, border, number of columns , text style, and so on for tables.

Charts . The standard chart type and the appearance of the chart elements.

Imported graphics . The shadows, opacity, and outline applied to imported graphics.

Placeholder text and graphics . The structural underpinnings of layouts using placeholder text and graphics, into which you can drop text or images.

Additional pages . A collection of related page designs so you can add pages to the document via the toolbar's Pages button (or Insert
Pages).
