Macromedia Flash MX 2004 Killer Tips

[ LiB ]

Some of you have ventured into the brave world of creating your own components. Beginning with Flash MX, components have provided us with a wonderful way to make reusable and customizable code. You may have noticed that every time you made one of these components, the only thing that distinguished one from the other in the Library was the name. They always seem to have the same boring icon (three colored cubes).

To add a little flavor to your component, right-click it in the Library and choose Component Definition. In the window that appears, click the typical three-cubed icon, which is actually a button. This will provide you with a drop-down list of available icons for your component. You're still a little limited, but at least they won't all look the same.
