IPCONFIG displays the TCP/IP configuration information. By using the IPCONFIG /ALL command, you can see the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, DNS Server, WINS Server, DHCP Server, DHCP lease, and physical address.

PING is a utility that tests connectivity between two computers.

PING is used to troubleshoot where a problem with the network may lie. First ping the loopback address 127.0.0.1 to test the installation of the protocol stack. The next ping to the local address tests the NIC. The third ping to the default gateway tests local connectivity to other computers. The final ping to the other interface of the router tests the router’s functionality.

TRACERT shows the path that a packet takes to get to a destination computer. You can use this information to determine which routers are being used and potentially locate any bottlenecks.
