26.2 Migration Tools

There are four primary scripts that will help you migrate from V1.[56] to V5.X clusters. These scripts are part of the TruCluster Server kit found on the Tru64 UNIX Associated Products CD (Volume 2) and are documented in the Cluster Installation manual. The specific subset name is TCRMIGRATE5xx. On your V1.[56] cluster, install this subset on each member. Here we show installing the kit from a V5.1A distribution.

These scripts will be installed into the /usr/opt/TruCluster/tools/migrate directory.

• clu_migrate_check

  The clu_migrate_check script performs a check on the general hardware, firmware, and file systems. The clu_migrate_check script output will contain:

  • Hardware and firmware information.

  • List of unsupported hardware.

  • List of differences with V5 (for example, ASE-specific paths, separate start and stop scripts, etc.).

  • List of cluster IP addresses (ASE services).

    This is used in preparation for option 3 and possibly option 2.

• clu_migrate_save

  The clu_migrate_save script saves information about the system, the ASE, and how the shared storage is used by the ASE services and stores this data in /var/TruCluster_migration/<CLUSTER_NET>. This is used in either option 2 or option 3.

• clu_migrate_recover

  The clu_migrate_recover script restores the cluster configuration (LSM configuration, frees devices) in the event of a migration failure. This could be used in option 2 or option 3 but only on a failed migration attempt.

• clu_migrate_configure

  The clu_migrate_configure script configures the storage and file systems on the V5.X cluster using the data saved by clu_migrate_save. Of the four scripts, this is the only one that runs on the V5.X cluster. This is used in option 2 or option 3.

  Note: Use "clu_migrate_configure –x" to see what clu_migrate_configurewould do without actually carrying out any of the instructions.
