The following Problem Solving projects and the You and GO! personal project are open-ended assessments. That is, there is no specific correct result; your result will depend on your approach to the information provided. Make professional quality your goal. Use the following scoring rubric to guide you in how to approach the problem and then to evaluate how well your approach solves the problem.

1Software Mastery

Choose and apply the most appropriate skills, tools, and features and identify efficient methods to solve the problem.

2Content

Construct a solution that is clear and well organized, contains content that is accurate, appropriate to the audience and purpose, and is complete. Provide a solution that contains no errors of spelling, grammar, or style.

Project 3K. Specialty

Objectives: 1. Format Slide Text; 3. Modify Slide Master Elements; 5. Apply Bullets and Numbering; 6. Customize a Color Scheme; 7. Modify the Slide Background.

For Project 3K, you will need the following file:

New blank presentation

You will save your presentation as

3K_Specialty_Firstname_Lastname

Start a new presentation based on a design template. Research a medical specialty in which you are interested, such as pediatrics or neurology, and create a four- to six-slide presentation with information that you feel is relevant to the topic. Change the color scheme for your presentation, replace at least one font, and on the Slide Master, change the first level bullet to a picture bullet. On at least one slide, omit the background graphics and apply a gradient fill. Create an appropriate footer for your notes and handouts and save your presentation as 3K_Specialty_Firstname_Lastname Submit the presentation either printed or electronically, as directed by your instructor. To submit a printout, print the presentation as handouts, six slides per page.

For Project 3L, you will need the following file:

Start a new presentation based on a design template of your choice. Research current information regarding healthy nutrition choices for someone your age. Create a minimum of four slides that include changes in fonts, font sizes, font colors, and text alignment. Apply a textured background and a clip art to at least one slide, and apply an animation scheme to the entire presentation. Create an appropriate footer for your notes and handouts and save your presentation as 3L_Nutrition_Firstname_Lastname Submit the presentation either printed or electronically, as directed by your instructor. To submit a printout, print the presentation as handouts, six slides per page.

For Project 3M, you will need the following file:

Start a new presentation based on a design template of your choice. In the case of a natural disaster, many cities, colleges, and corporations have emergency response plans. Choose either a city, corporation, or a college and research the emergency response plans that the entity that you chose uses during a natural disaster. You can look on the Internet for this information or contact an employee of the organization that you chose. If you are unable to find the information, design a personal emergency response plan for your home that describes the steps you would take to secure your home, leave safely, and contact family and friends. Create a minimum of six slides and include at least one numbered list. Insert appropriate clip art and apply an animation scheme to the entire presentation. Create a footer for your notes and handouts and save your presentation as 3M_Response_Firstname_Lastname Submit the presentation either printed or electronically, as directed by your instructor. To submit a printout, print the presentation as handouts, six slides per page.
