Managed C++ and .NET Development: Visual Studio .NET 2003 Edition

In this chapter, you looked at the Visual Studio .NET development environment. You started off by exploring the most common customizable views available to developers. You then walked through building a class library assembly and an application assembly that references the class library assembly. You finished off by examining the debugging facilities provided by the development environment.

This chapter covered a lot of familiar ground for traditional Visual C++ programmers. Visual Studio .NET has not changed drastically from the previous version, but it has changed enough that developers might get slightly lost—at least for a short time.

In the next chapter, you'll begin exploring the .NET development and, in particular, the collection functionality provided by the .NET Framework class library. From here on, most of the material will be new for all programmers making their initial foray into the world of Managed C++.
