Baselining

A baseline is a set of metrics stored at a certain point of time. If you take a baseline for your database when it is in good health, you can use it to compare the metrics when you have a database performance issue. OEM supports the collection of baselines for later comparison and troubleshooting purposes.

History

Database-related performance metrics are stored automatically and graphs can be drawn for various parameters. History is a great diagnostic tool for detecting and identifying performance bottlenecks. Metrics are stored in the repository and are purged automatically based on defined policies.

Oracle Data Pump

OEM provides an interface to Oracle Data Pump, which is a new feature of Oracle Database 10g. The Oracle Data Pump interface in OEM allows you to stop or suspend Oracle Data Pump import or export operations, and manage Oracle Data Pump operations.

Related Links

OEM adds a great little feature to the bottom of many of the OEM windows. Hyperlinks are now available that enable you to access additional, related information to the topic at hand. For example, when you are in the Response Time window, you see links for Compare Targets and Manage Metrics.

Alert Log Viewer

OEM provides a convenient way to access the alert log file. The user can view the latest alert from the instance alert log file directly on the OEM home page.
