Recipe 19.4. Creating an ASR Disk "After the Fact"
Problem
You need an ASR disk for a system, bu t that system isn't running. You do, however, have current backup media for that system generated from an ASR-based backup and would like to create an ASR disk based on that data. Solution
To create an ASR disk from an already existing ASR-based backup media set:
After the wizard finishes processing, the ASR floppy disk is ready for use in the event of an ASR restore operation.
Discussion
When you perform an ASR backup, Windows puts the Asr.sif and Asrpnp.sif files on the backup media. In the event that you've lost the ASR disk, or that it's otherwise unavailable for the restore procedure, both the Asr.sif and Asrpnp.sif files can be extracted from the backup media and then transferred to a floppy disk to be used for an ASR operation. If you do not perform an ASR backup, these files will not exist. See Also
