Intrusion Prevention Fundamentals

Requests for Information (RFI) is a document that some companies use to learn more about a product or solution. The information in the RFI helps them select a product that best fits their needs. This appendix contains a list of sample questions you can use if you are preparing an RFI for Intrusion Prevention products. It contains the following sections:

  • Solution Covers, at a high level, the solution the vendor proposes, the components of the solution, how they work together, and so on.

  • Support Inquires about the support offerings available for the solution.

  • Training Discusses any training that might be available for the solution.

  • Licensing Examines how the solution is sold.

  • Network Intrusion Prevention Goes into depth about the proposed Network Intrusion Prevention product. It covers the way it works, its management, operational considerations, and compatibility with other products.

  • Host Intrusion Prevention Goes into depth about the proposed Host Intrusion Prevention product. It covers the way it works, its management, operational considerations, and compatibility with other products.
