Exchange administration and management covers a wide area. The products listed here do the same. Some monitor Exchange servers and connectors, reporting on such things as e-mail loads and network availability. Other products assist in migrating mailboxes and other Exchange objects within an Exchange organization or between Exchange organizations. Still other products help you automate the resource-draining creation of Outlook profiles for Exchange server. And one product in this section is a substitute for Windows clustered servers.

• Availability Manager for Exchange Quest Availability Manager for Exchange ensures business continuity by providing the ability to detect when an e-mail outage has occurred, and rapidly failover users to a predefined Exchange database where they will continue to have uninterrupted e-mail capabilities. Clients including Outlook, Outlook Web Access, ActiveSync and BlackBerry users can continue to access their e-mail including access to historical information. Contact Quest Software (www.quest.com)

• ChooseFrom for Microsoft Exchange ChooseFrom allows a user to choose an alternate address for a message to be from rather than their default address. This is useful, for example, when a group of users receive a message sent to the Sales alias and a user wants to reply to that message but have the Sales e-mail address rather than their own address be in the From field. • Directory Update Directory Update is a Web-based administration tool that allows an end user to update their own information in the Active Directory and thus the Exchange address lists. • EmpowerID Suite The EmpowerID Suite is a web-based account provisioning that works against Active Directory and ADAM directories. EmpowerID can join attributes from multiple directories. Contact: The Dot Net Factory (www.thedotnetfactory.com)

• Exchange Administrator Exchange Administrator is a nice front end for managing the Active Directory side of Exchange server. It supports the automation of administrative tasks such as mailbox creation. The product is an add-on to NetIQ's Directory and Resource Administrator. Contact: NetIQ (www.netiq.com)

• Exchange Migration Wizard The Exchange Migration Wizard is a comprehensive migration tool that will allow you to perform migrations from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2007 with minimal disruption to your user community. This tool is part of a fairly comprehensive offering of migration tools from Quest Software. Contact: Quest Software (www.quest.com)

• Exchange Migrator Another product from NetIQ, Exchange Migrator simplifies the migration of Exchange objects from one Exchange organization to another. As this book goes to press, we are not sure if NetIQ will release a migrator for Exchange 2007 or not. Contact: NetIQ (www.netiq.com)

• Exchange POP3 Exchange POP is a gateway that downloads messages from non-Exchange POP3 and IMAP4 mailboxes to Exchange mailboxes. This product is useful for users who receive all or some of their e-mail outside of Exchange, for example, at an ISP. Exchange POP includes antivirus and anti-spam screening. • MailShadow MailShadow is one of the truly unique products on the market for Exchange server. It allows the administrator to select mailboxes and have the content replicated and then synchronized to another server. • Message Classification Titus Labs Message Classification is the classification and policy enforcement tool for Outlook and Outlook Web Access that allows customers to manage the classification, distribution, and retention of valuable corporate e-mail. It includes the ability to enforce users to assign e-mail classification labels at the desktop before messages are sent, restricting the distribution of sensitive e-mail to authorized recipients only. In addition, it allows users to categorize e-mail for easy storage, search, and retrieval. • Message Manager Message Manager can scan e-mail databases for specific content to find information leaks, track specific messages, and investigate e-mail related to specific employees or subjects. Contact: Intellireach Corp. (www.intellireach.com)

• Migration Manager for Exchange Migration Manager for Exchange is comprehensive solution for seamless, transparent inter-org migrations from Exchange 2000/2003 to Exchange Server 2007. It supports multiple Exchange migration scenarios; one- or two-way synchronization of directory objects; mailboxes and public folders; address updating on migrated messages; and comprehensive coexistence capabilities. • Network E-mail Examiner Network E-mail Examiner is a tool that allows you to search and analyze an Exchange Server database for words and phrases that you may need to look for when searching for content that is not permitted within your organization or performing a legal discovery. • Notes Migrator for Exchange Quest Notes Migrator for Exchange enables organizations to migrate direct from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 with complete project management and reporting while minimizing impact to users. Contact: Quest Software (www.quest.com)

• Profile Maker Profile Maker helps Exchange managers build and support common Outlook/Exchange Server profiles. It allows for configuration of local file paths, message retention settings, addressing, delivery, and folder options. If a user changes their profile, that profile is replaced with their Profile Maker profile the next time they log in to the network. These tools are especially helpful for older versions of Outlook that may not have full GPO templates or the Autodiscover features of Outlook 2007. • Profiler Profiler is a web-based tool that allows a user to update some of their Active Directory/global address list information via a web page. This includes mailbox forwarding. • PST Policy Administrator PST Policy Administrator is software that allows you to keep your users' PST usage in check. The software can also manage PST file content and delete attachments from PST files. Contact: Sherpa Software (www.sherpasoftware.com)

• Public Folder Migrator for SharePoint Public Folder Migrator for SharePoint is a new tool from Quest Software that allows you to perform assessments of migration requirements and to migrate the public folder hierarchy and data into SharePoint sites. It is no secret that public folders are going to be less important in the future. Organizations that get a head start toward moving their public folder content to another platform will be much better off with future versions of Exchange. Contact: Quest Software (www.quest.com)
