Why This Chapter Matters

As a desktop support technician (DST), you will be asked to resolve a wide range of service calls regarding Microsoft Internet Explorer, including configuring Internet Explorer to connect to the Internet, setting security and privacy options, and performing troubleshooting tasks. These calls generally have to do with a user’s inability to view Web pages or problems with the speed at which Web pages are loaded, but the requests can also be about performing maintenance tasks such as deleting temporary files or asking for advice on dealing with cookies.
