IBM Rational ClearCase, Ant, and CruiseControl: The Java Developers Guide to Accelerating and Automating the Build Process

To successfully release and deploy your project or application, you need to understand the nature of your release and how all your different artifacts should be packaged to be ready for deployment. You also need to have control over the release environment to ensure that what you are producing is correct, traceable, and auditable. After reading this chapter, you will be able to

• Understand the concept of a Deployment Unit and how it relates to software release and deployment.

• Create an isolated Base ClearCase or UCM environment for executing a Release Build.

• Configure Ant and CruiseControl for executing Release Builds.
