Click the Blank Presentation option in the New Presentation task pane. (If this task pane is not visible, open the File menu and select New.)

The Slide Layout task pane opens; scroll through the available layouts and click the one you want to apply to the current slide.

The selected layout appears on the slide, ready for you to begin working.

INTRODUCTION

For the most control over your PowerPoint presentations, start with a blank presentation and add only the items you want. This gives you the opportunity to use your creativity. It also allows you to use PowerPoint for creating files beyond basic business presentations. Your imagination is the only limitation.

TIP

Applying the Slide Layout

If you click once directly on a slide layout in the task pane, it automatically applies the layout to only the current slide. If you first select each slide in the Slide tab (the pane on the left) by pressing Ctrl while clicking each slide, you can select the Apply to Selected Slides option. Each slide you selected will have the same slide layout.
