Mac OS X Bible, Panther Edition
The Finder application provides three services to other applications, Open, Reveal, and Show Info, as shown in Figure 11-1.
-
Open: Opens the file with its default application, opens a selected folder or volume and displays the contents in a Finder window, or launches an application. Essentially, the Open command in a menu acts the same way as a double-click on the item’s icon. If you type the path to a folder in a text file, highlight the pathname and select Services File Open, the folder will open in a new Finder window.
-
Reveal: Reveals the item in the Finder by opening a Finder window and selecting the item.
-
Show Info: Displays the Info window for the selected item.
