| Aperture leverages the Core Image layer in Mac OS X and your GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) to achieve real-time performance previously not available for RAW files. Applications such as Final Cut Pro are designed to scale from G4-based systems all the way up to fully equipped G5-based systems. While this is also the case with Aperture, certain hardware is a prerequisite in order to take advantage of its real-time performance capabilities.
