Teach Yourself VISUALLY Word 2003

Word can track the editing and formatting changes made to your document. This feature is particularly useful when more than one person works on the same document.

When Word tracks document revisions, it tracks the changes made and who made them so that you can easily identify who did what to a document.

  1. Click to display the document in Print Layout view.

  2. Click Tools.

  3. Click Track Changes.

    The Reviewing toolbar appears.

TRK appears in the status bar to indicate that Word is tracking changes.

  4. Make changes to the document as needed.

A vertical bar appears in the left margin beside lines containing changes.

Added text appears underlined and in a color other than black.

Deleted text and formatting changes appear in comment balloons in the right margin of the document.

Each reviewer’s changes appear in a different color.

You can view details about a change and who made it by moving the mouse pointer () over a change.

You can stop tracking changes by repeating steps 2 to 3, or you can click the Track Changes icon ().

    Note

To review changes and accept or reject them, see the section “Review Tracked Changes.”

Can I print revisions?

Revisions will print as they appear on-screen based on the view when you print the document. You can, however, print a list of revisions from any view.

  1. Click File.

  2. Click Print.

  3. Click here and select List of markup.

  4. Click OK.
