You can insert a page break to force Word to start text on a new page. Word automatically starts a new page when the current page becomes filled with text.

You insert a page break when you want to control where a new page begins.

  1. Click the location where you want the text to appear on a new page.

  2. Click Insert.

  3. Click Break.

    The Break dialog box appears.

  4. Click Page break ( changes to ).

  5. Click OK.

    Word inserts a page break and moves all text after the page break onto a new page.

  6. Click the Normal view icon () to see the document in Normal view.

    Word displays a page break line that represents the page break.

Is there a faster way to insert a page break?

Click the location where you want text to appear on a new page and press + .

Can I delete a page break?

Yes. You can delete page breaks that you insert into your document; you cannot delete the page breaks Word inserts when a page fills with text. Click to display the document in Normal view. Click the Page Break line and then press .
