| In this chapter we explored the following: We discussed the concept of itinerary-based routing, and the role it plays in enabling a highly distributed SOA across independently deployed services. We discussed some core ESB services, such as content-based routing and XSLT transformation. Service reusability was also examined. We examined two integration patterns that combine itineraries with special services. We learned about some advanced ESB capabilities such as an XML persistence service and an orchestration service. We discussed the idea of a unified view of a process model, which makes optimal choices between the underlying process model options.
In the next chapter we will explore protocols, messaging, and custom ESB services using a case study from a live ESB deployment in a manufacturing supply chain. |
