| To test your microphone, follow these steps: 1. | Choose Apple > System Preferences. | 2. | Select Audio. | 3. | Make sure that the appropriate microphone is selected; adjust the input level so that it registers your voice at approximately 75 percent; and see whether the input level changes when you speak into the microphone. | 4. | To adjust the volume of your speakers or headset, use your keyboard audio control, or choose System Preferences > Audio and increase the output volume. Make sure that the output volume is not muted. | | | 5. | If you do not see the appropriate microphone, headset, or handset displayed, try disconnecting and reconnecting it; if that doesn't work, refer to Chapter 7 for assistance. | |
