Apple provides an extensive support section on its web site: it contains thousands of help documents, discussion forums, links to download updates, and much more. You can access this web site by typing www.info.apple.com in your web browser.

Support site sections At the top of the page, just beneath the Support tab, are clickable links to several sections of this site: Guided Search (a page that guides you as you search for information), Downloads (links to updates and applications), Manuals (manuals for all Mac hardware), Specifications (detailed specifications of all Mac models), Discussions (technical support discussion forums), Training (information on Apple training and certification), and Products & Services.

Search Apple Support To get help on a specific subject, enter a question or a few keywords in this section. You can refine your search by choosing a part of the web site to search from the pop-up menu: Articles, Downloads, Manuals, or Discussions.

Downloads This section always contains the latest system updates and application downloads for your Mac, with the newest downloads at the top of the list.

| Note | Apple offers AppleCare support contracts that extend your Mac’s guarantee and support to three years. While Macs are well-built computers, your mileage may vary. I’ve bought AppleCare contracts for all my Macs in the past few years since I moved to a village hours away from any Mac dealer. I’ve had problems, and AppleCare has been very responsive in repairing them, both onsite and after shipping a portable Mac to the service center. Check the conditions to see whether AppleCare offers onsite service where you live. |
