Welcome to Aperture, the revolutionary application for managing and editing digital photographs. This is the first of eight step-by-step lessons that will guide you through the process of importing images; sorting, ranking, and managing images with unparalleled efficiency; editing and retouching your selected images professionally; and exporting, publishing, and archiving your images.

Lesson 1 focuses on the Aperture interface, as well as how to import images from various sources. It also explains Aperture's ingenious master/versions file architecture, which enables you to make virtually unlimited versions of your RAW image file without significantly increasing your storage needs.
